Inspector Matt Minogue

Dublin, Ireland
Dermot Fanning is a faded Dublin screenwriter, but he's planning a triumphant comeback in film: he's going to write the definitive story of gang crime in Dublin - an Irish Sopranos.

With the Celtic Tiger economy crumbling abut him, Fanning will have even more material to draw on. Gangland feuds continue to erupt in the city. Fanning wants gritty reality, and for this he hires Murph as his guide to the Dublin underworld.

Murph is well-connected - or so he says. He has access to serious people. Soon he has Fanning at a dog-fight, and there Fanning is spotted by someone who wants Murph's job.

Cully, the contender for Murph's job is an oddity: well-spoken, calm - none of the blather and posing that Murph puts out. He expects be paid, of course. After all, this film will be a success, right? So it's only fair that he gets the going rate..

Gendarm Felix Kimmel

Graz, Austria
It has been a long winter here in the hills of southern Austria. Inspektor Felix Kimmel, probationary officer with the Austrian Gendarmerie, is now staring at two bodies on a path in the woods.

As bad, or worse, is the lumbering man-child now tugging on his arm - Hansi, the one who led him here, keeps calling the dead men his 'dolls.'

The Central Detective Bureau - The Kripo - from Graz soon takes over. Experts though they may be, and higher in the firmament than the Gendarmes like Felix who patrol such parts of rural Austria, they want his help. After all, Felix is a local who knows the area and its people....
