Life

I am a native of Dublin, and divide my time between Ireland and Canada, where my wife and I raise our family.

Growing up in Ireland with a mother from the west of Ireland, and a father from Dublin, my home was one where imagination and character were at the core of life. Everyone had a story, a song, a joke.

I continue to follow the lure of travel. rambling in Ireland’s Burren or Dublin's streets, or hill-walking in southern Austria. Though trained as a teacher, I try to live by Yeats’ dictum: ‘Only that which is useless, or can’t be taught, is irresistible.’

Writing

As well as the nine Minogue books, I have written ‘A Rebel Hand’, a lengthy account of the life of Irish Australian patriot Michael Dwyer.

I has several works in progress. Amongst them is
a long historical novel, ‘The Burning Tower.' It follows a family of exiles in Babylon, through the Inquisition to Ireland in 1938. A follow-up to the first Felix Kimmel is also in the works.
